Detailed video shows you how to sew press and pleat a lined box pleated valance.
Diy box pleat valance. No sew box pleat valance i m still not on good terms with my sewing machine so i m always on the look out to figure out no sew solutions to get my custom window treatment fix. Box pleat valances are usually mounted to a board but you can make a box pleat valance on a rod too and it s super easy. The pleats work best with crisp cottons or linens as opposed to lightweight or bulky fabrics. The pleat is formed on the window side of the valance so the front side shows only an inward folding crease.
When the corners are stapled in place continue folding under the excess from the front of your valance and staple in place. Fold the front of your valance next finishing off the corner and staple in place. The front of your box pleat valance should always be folded to the top to ensure a clean edge from the front. Please see the related video how to make a box pleated valance.
The fabric needs to fold well to maintain a square tailored look. An inverted pleat valance offers the fullness of a box pleat but with a flat face. Follow my step by step tutorial with pictures. Whether you sew or you don t you can get a custom look it s really all about the ironing.
